The Dani Punch 2.0 is the updated version of the Dani Punch 1st edition. It has a wider bowl, a little more airflow and a wood or stabwood (wood stabilized with resin) sleeve. It retains the excellent vapor cooling, particle capture and flavour while having improved compatibility with a wider range of induction heaters due to the full stainless steel cap. The ergonomics are excellent, making for a comfortable portable vaping experience.

The V2 has a slightly larger herb chamber than the 1st edition, a wood sleeve and updated full Stainless Steel cap. The Punch 2.0 is faster to heat and compatible with a wider range of induction heaters (e.g. yll-ih 3.0 - however not the Flare IH) but it is harder to get a full extraction with a single heat cycle so both devices have their place and some people will prefer the 1st edition version. The internals of the device are otherwise pretty much identical aside from a slightly wider bowl and a little more airflow on the V2.

Heating

Due to the full stainless steel cap the Punch 2.0 has faster heating and faster cooling than previous devices. Being geared more towards flavour and speed (making it a little better for out and about) you will generally need two heat cycles to finish your session (unless you're riding close to the combustion point!) since the cap has less thermal capacity than previous BFG devices.

  • Always heat to second click of the cap, then adjust there to your liking if you'd like to run it a little hotter, heat it a little longer!
  • With the YLL-IH 3.0 induction heater, the deeper you put it in, the longer it takes to click, just like when you aim at a lower point on the cap - for a full extraction in one heat cycle place it so that the tip and airflow holes sit just inside the YLL-IH 3.0 induction heater, set the IH to 100w and give it 19-20 seconds to heat. Be cautious though as this is riding the combustion line so if you overheat it and smell or taste smoke, stop inhaling immediately, let it cool and empty the chamber otherwise you'll have to clean the whole device! Be aware that different herb can combust at different temperatures depending how dry it is, so we would advise starting with around 15 seconds and working up from there if you find the herb can be heated more without combusting!
  • With this in mind, if you're using a torch, the higher up on the cap you aim the torch, the faster (and lower temperature) it will click at. To start with we suggest aiming the torch flame directly at the cap and heating the bottom third so that the cap fully heats, while rotating it back and forth slightly in your hand to ensure more even heating.
  • That said, you can play with the flame height and angle to find your preference, we sometimes angle the torch upwards slightly so that the flame hits the bottom third of the cap and spreads upwards towards the top of the cap. This heats the cap a little more evenly while having it click at a slightly lower temperature, helping to prolong the session, slightly improve flavour and reduce the number of heat cycles needed for a full extraction.
  • For micro-dosing you can consider that the bowl has two half-bowl sections - upper and lower. So you can either leave the screen set higher up in the tip and load the top, or move it down to the bottom and load the bottom. When the cap is on, each section sits at a different distance from the cap.
  • So instead of loading the top half of the bowl, another method is to load the lower half of the bowl, gently push the material down with your finger or the back of a SQP Mini and heat the lowest part of the cap until it reaches the first click. Then move the flame slightly upward until the second click (rotating the unit as needed). This method provides a long session while staying flavorful, since the herb sits further away from the cap, vaping it at a slightly lower temperature than if it's packed to the top, while still having heated the cap thoroughly!
  • When you've finished your session you can hold the cap with the provided leather case or use the Leather Loop to safely remove this while hot.

Airflow Adjustment

The airflow adjustment is done by rotating the mouthpiece (clockwise only, otherwise you'll undo it!) and the holes are easily visible which makes adjusting it on the fly or during use much easier than before. If the airflow adjustment is a little stiff we suggest applying a little o-ring lubricant to the o-ring by the mouthpiece to make it rotate nice and smoothly. The Punch 2.0 has excellent airflow for this style of the device, providing more than any of the other Battery Free Ganz vapes.

Assembly notes

Please check out the video (shows the 1st edition, which has the same assembly and disassembly) on this product listing to see how it is assembled (comes assembled) as it's a little different and you'll want to take it apart for cleaning. All the parts except the Cap and external sleeve can be soaked in ISO to clean them. Two things to note here:

  • The sleeve unscrews in the opposite direction to usual. So once you've unscrewed the mouthpiece anti-clockwise, you can then unscrew the sleeve clockwise and take it apart!
  • The the airflow adjustment can be locked in place - to do this hold the device below the cap, with the cap facing away from you, then rotate the external sleeve clockwise. This will lock the airflow position. If you want to adjust the airflow simply hold the device in the same way again, rotate the sleeve anti-clockwise, then rotate the mouthpiece clockwise to adjust the airflow. This is entirely optional and you can just leave it unlocked, but noteworthy because if you aren't aware of this, you may accidentally lock the adjustment without knowing how you did it or how to undo it (like we did when we first got it!)!
  • To disassemble: Remove the cap - hold the tip/herb chamber and the mouthpiece - unscrew the tip anticlockwise to remove - pull the tip out - pull the mouthpiece and condenser tube out - unscrew the mouthpiece from the condenser (might be a bit sticky!) - hold the metal part under the tip - unscrew the sleeve clockwise. To reassemble do the reverse

The herb chamber shape of the Dani Punch 2.0 is tapered, the bowl comes with a half pack screen setup as standard but the screen can be moved further down into the bottom of the herb chamber if desired. To do this remove the screen by poking it out from the bottom, bend the edges up slightly, then push it into the bottom of the herb chamber, you can use the bottom (not tip) of the mouthpiece to push it in if you don't have an appropriately sized tool. Don't just try to push the screen down to the lower position using force alone, it does need to be removed and adjusted first.

Cleaning

Disassemble as described above - all parts can be soaked in ISO (including the o-rings) except the cap and wood sleeve. The Cap does not need cleaning. Avoid getting ISO on the wood sleeve as this will damage the finish of the wood. After soaking, rinse with hot water and leave to dry - you can use a bit of kitchen towel to speed up the drying process.

Other features

The first six holes underneath the tip/herb chamber are designed to act as a trap for reclaim or for use with hash. The material melts down into the trap and sticks there, instead of going to the mouth. Then you only need to heat the cap (a little past the click) to vaporize the material in the tube—even heating an empty load works.

Included

  • Dani Punch V2 Device - Made From Stainless Steel with a Vietnamese Rosewood or Stabwood Sleeve
  • Spare O-rings
  • Leather Storage Pouch
  • Approx. 0.2g max capacity
  • Approx. 108mm Long

Additional Parts

As this device makes use of natural wood for the sleeve, each sleeve will be slightly different in colour and wood grain. The same applies to the Stabwood version, this is usually a mix of colours (primarily red and blue), each of the sleeves comes out slightly different so each is unique. If ordering a Stabwood version please be aware a random one will be dispatched since we can't photograph and list them all individually!

Cap Compatibility - You can use the Punch v2 cap on the v1 Punch but not vice versa, you can also use the v2 cap on the Fusion 2.0 but not vice versa. You cannot use the Punch V1 cap on anything except the Punch v1. The Fusion 2.0 Cap fits the Punch v1 but not v2, however using the Fusion 2.0 cap on the v1 will significantly shut down the airflow.

Dani 2.0 – Absolute Beast!

I’ll be honest, I was a bit unsure buying the Dani 2.0.

The description says it can be harder to get full extraction in one heat cycle, and I’m a heavy hitter. I want one heat, one pull, done. For the first couple of days I was doing two heat cycles and feeling a bit meh about it.

Then I actually dialled it in.

Using my YLL3 I landed on:

65W

Same insertion depth as Tempest 2

40 seconds

That’s it. Now I get proper one-hit extractions every time, with the best flavour.

Best part? Those exact same settings also work on my Tempest 2 (+3 seconds) (zirconia or SiC), so I don’t even have to touch the heater apart from alternating 3 seconds between devices.

Once I found that sweet spot everything clicked.

Out of the two, the Dani 2.0 is now my go-to. Better flavour, thicker vapor, quicker re-load time.

If you’re worried about the single heat cycle thing don’t be. It just needs dialing in.

Picture added to show depth of T2 & DP2.0 int eh YLL.30

Cheers to Matt for the continued excellent service as always.

Dani punch v2

I’ve been using the Dani Punch V2 and I’m genuinely impressed. It has a really fast heat-up time, so you’re not hanging around waiting — perfect for quick sessions. The vapour production is actually not too bad at all, especially considering how compact and simple it is to use. Nice flavour, solid build quality, and reliable performance. Definitely a good little hitter for anyone who likes efficient, no-fuss sessions.
