The Flower Mill Next Gen Standard Mills provide huge grinding/milling capacity relative to their size, along with super smooth function and excellent performance. Flower Mill have taken on all feedback from the original mills and come out with a product which far surpasses it. The Next Gen Standard Mills are mills are smaller, stronger, smoother to use and mill herb even better! They do have a slightly smaller capacity than the originals, being capable of milling up to 1.5g instead of 2g but the trade off in size, weight and quality is well worthwhile.
Unlike the Premium editions the Standard editions do not have the option of different mill plate sizes and come with an integral medium grind plate, they are however much smaller and lighter than the Premiums so make for a super portable option which you can chuck in a pocket or bag without sacrificing milling performance.

It should be noted that these work best with herb which has been dried and cured to no higher than 62% RH. If herb is fresher it may still have a higher RH inside while feeling dry on the outside, irrelevant of whether it is being stored at the correct RH. Wetter herb should ideally be dried a little more first or it may either take longer to mill or roll up inside the mill instead of crumbling apart.

How to operate...
Remove the top and pop some herb on the mill plate. Herb doesn't need to be broken up as long as it sits below the top of the mill, if you're working with a little more, break it up a little so that the top piece with the milling rotor sits evenly.
Replace the top. Apply even and gentle pressure to the top while twisting in a back and forth motion until the herb has been milled! You don't want to apply lots of pressure to force the herb through the holes of the mill plate, let it do the work for you.
Turn the bottom catch section 1/4 turn to access your harvest!
Please Note - there are little marks on the screw threading inside the mill in various spots, these are called "racking marks" from where the mill has been held during the anodizing process. These are perfectly normal and nothing to worry about, there is a note from Flower Mill regarding these which can be found here.

I originally gave this 2/5 because of a few issues with the quality of the milled flower. RVS kindly replied offering some tips on how to get more out of it. Having now used it a few times taking that into account I get on with it much better though as I said in that review, I still think it would benefit from a bottom plate rather than a a chamber the flower drops into. I still find it a bit fiddly and the quality of the milled flower varies from flower to flower. It’s decent id score higher if it was less fiddly. A bottom plate as already mentioned would likely do away with a lot of that.

Thanks for the review, sorry to hear you're having trouble with that. This sounds like it's one of three things, the most common cause is too much pressure being applied when milling, minimal pressure should be used so that the mill breaks the herb up. If you apply too much it'll push through lumps. Second possibility is that the herb is still a little damp, that can cause it to clump a little. Third is that you happen to have some extremely dense nugs, we had some unusually dense nugs not long ago and I had to switch the mill plate to the fine plate to get it to mill properly. Sadly that's not an option for the standard mills though.
I think this is a decent well made product, but it's not great for all situations.
The holes inside are medium and the consistency of the grind is a bit coarse for vaping according to my taste.
I think it works better with drier flower. Flower with moisture ends up getting a bit smooshed.
For me the Phonecian or the Santa Cruz Shredder are better all-rounders.
I bought this in addition to my Flower Mill next gen stainless 2.5" since I wanted something more portable to take on my honeymoon. And in all honesty it's a lot cheaper so I wouldn't mind as much if I lost it whilst I was away
That said price does not sacrifice quality here this is a great little mill, works and feels just as good as the next gen one with the main difference being that you can't fit nearly half as much in the bottom area. It is a lotttt lighter and comes in theee most adorable little box, and it's pink which I love
Similarly to its big brother you find yourself using it just for the sake of using it since it turns your herb into a light fluffy texture (instead of ripping it apart like every other tooth grinder out there) in absolutely no time at all. It turns something that was a chore into something enjoyable. I originally bought it to go on my honeymoon with but just keep this next to my ruby pro now since I often change the plate size on the bigger one so it's handy to have right there and is there perfect size to grind up a smaller amount of your favourite herb.
It's theee easiest grinder to clean ever.
Honestly just buy it its a great investment, I wasn't convinced on the whole flower mill until my mate showed me and I'm soooo thankful
I bought this little thing as a travel mill for a recent trip to Amsterdam. I found It’s perfect for grinding up to a gram, perhaps more. Super easy to use and very impressive build quality. I also own the 2.5” with swapable plates. I’d recommend that tank over this one if you consume a fair bit, otherwise for light to average use, this thing is great.
I only bought the standard because I couldn't really afford the the premium. However, what an amazing little mill. I've only ever used toothed grinders in the past, and they get clogged fairly quick and are a pain in the butt to clean. That being said, the flower mill is a totally different experience, within a couple of twists your done, which funnily enough is a bit disappointing😂
The mill is easy to clean due to the design, I use 70% rubbing alcohol dry it off then put a small amount of wax on the plastic ring which gives it a nice effortless experience. Thanks again RVS🙏
